Canticum, our resident chamber choir at St Saviour’s, is performing a special concert in aid of St Saviour’s lighting on the evening of Tuesday, 17 September.
The hour-long programme of sacred motets covers many of the most spectacular and best-loved choral pieces in the repertoire, with music from composers including Palestrina, Byrd, Purcell and Stravinsky, and grouped around the twin themes of Our Lady and the Passion.
A particular highlight in the 100th year since his birth will be Benjamin Britten's A Hymn to the Virgin.
Canticum is one of London's leading chamber choirs, noted for its wide repertoire as well as musical excellence. Recent highlights have included performances in St Martin in the Fields, the Barbican, Salisbury Cathedral, and a Christmas morning broadcast on Radio 4. It rehearses at St Saviours and provides a choir for feast days and special occasions.
There is a small ticket fee for payment online.
Tickets are also available on the door.
"Canticum gets the big thumbs up because of the polish and refinement of the singing"
